Artist in Conversation: Michael Wang

FreeTRADES is pleased to partner with fishcake for our second Artist in Conversation event. Michael Wang will report on his Hawai‘i based “Extinct in the Wild” fieldwork; and discuss the intersections of art, conservation science, and cultural preservation with two esteemed experts.

Sam ‘Ohukani‘ōhi‘a Gon III, Ph.D. – Dr. Gon is a senior scientist and cultural advisor at the Nature Conservancy of Hawai’i and a member-at-large of the Board of Land and Natural Resources. Recently designated a “Living Treasure of Hawai’i,” Dr. Gon believes “Hawaiian culture and Hawaiian ecology are inseparable.”
Helen Turner, Ph.D. – Dean of the Division of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Dr. Turner is an internationally-regarded researcher in molecular immunology. As well as her position at Chaminade, she holds academic affiliations with the John A. Burns School of Medicine and Department of Microbiology at the University of Hawai‘i, and serves on numerous scientific advisory boards.
